BWT bestmax PREMIUM Water Filter Cartridge

0
BWT bestmax PREMIUM is a professional 5-stage water filtration cartridge designed to optimise mains water for coffee, vending machines and other hot beverage applications.
The cartridge reduces unwanted components in the incoming water, including limescale-forming minerals, particles, chlorine, organic compounds and substances that can negatively affect taste and odour. This helps protect professional coffee and beverage equipment while creating more consistent water quality for beverage preparation.
A key feature of bestmax PREMIUM is BWT Magnesium Technology. During treatment, calcium is partially exchanged for magnesium, increasing the magnesium content of the filtered water while reducing carbonate hardness. BWT positions this combination as a way to achieve both reliable limescale protection and improved water characteristics for coffee extraction.
The cartridge uses a 5-stage filtration process, including particle filtration, activated-carbon treatment and controlled mineral optimisation. BWT also specifies filtration of the bypass water, which helps maintain consistent sensory water quality even when part of the incoming water bypasses the ion-exchange treatment stage.
BWT bestmax PREMIUM is installed directly on a suitable drinking-water supply using the universal BWT besthead FLEX connection system. It is available in multiple cartridge sizes, allowing the system to be matched to local water hardness, consumption and equipment demand

Professional Coffee Water Filtration

What BWT bestmax PREMIUM Does

BWT bestmax PREMIUM is a professional 5-stage water filtration system designed to optimise mains drinking water for coffee, espresso, vending machines and other hot beverages. It combines limescale reduction, magnesium mineralisation, activated-carbon filtration and particle removal in one cartridge.

01

Reliable Limescale Protection

A high-performance ion exchanger reduces carbonate hardness, helping protect coffee machines, boilers and hot beverage equipment against scale formation.

02

BWT Magnesium Technology

Calcium is partially exchanged for magnesium, reducing hardness while increasing the magnesium content of the treated water for professional beverage preparation.

03

5-Stage Water Filtration

Particle filtration and activated carbon reduce sand, rust, chlorine, organic compounds and unwanted taste or odour in addition to the hardness treatment stage.

How It Works

How BWT bestmax PREMIUM Works

Unlike post-RO remineralisation cartridges, bestmax PREMIUM treats drinking water directly. Five filtration stages work together to remove particles and unwanted substances, reduce carbonate hardness and optimise the mineral composition.

1

Particle & Carbon Pre-Filtration

The first stages retain coarse particles such as sand and rust. Activated carbon then reduces oxidising substances and helps protect the downstream ion-exchange media.

2

Hardness Reduction & Magnesium Exchange

The high-performance ion exchanger reduces calcium responsible for carbonate hardness while BWT Magnesium Technology enriches the treated water with magnesium.

3

Final Carbon & Fine Filtration

Activated-carbon nonwoven reduces chlorine, organic substances and unwanted taste or odour, while the final fine filter separates remaining fine particles and suspended matter.

Designed for Direct Treatment of Drinking Water

BWT bestmax PREMIUM does not require reverse osmosis upstream. It is designed to treat suitable drinking water directly before professional coffee, espresso or vending equipment.

The filter is installed using the universal BWT besthead FLEX filter head. The bypass setting is adjusted according to the incoming water hardness and the required final water quality.

* Filter capacity depends strongly on incoming water hardness, bypass setting, application and flow rate. BWT specifies separate capacity tables for vending systems and hot beverage equipment with steam generation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Key questions about BWT bestmax PREMIUM, limescale protection and water optimisation for professional coffee equipment.

What is BWT bestmax PREMIUM?

+

BWT bestmax PREMIUM is a professional 5-stage water filter designed specifically for coffee, espresso, vending machines and other hot beverage applications. It combines hardness reduction, magnesium mineralisation, activated carbon and particle filtration.

Does BWT bestmax PREMIUM reduce limescale?

+

Yes. The high-performance ion-exchange stage reduces carbonate hardness and therefore helps protect coffee machines, boilers and other hot beverage equipment against limescale formation.

Does bestmax PREMIUM add magnesium to the water?

+

Yes. BWT Magnesium Technology partially exchanges calcium for magnesium during treatment, increasing the magnesium content of the filtered water while simultaneously reducing carbonate hardness.

Can bestmax PREMIUM be connected directly to tap water?

+

Yes. The cartridge is designed for direct treatment of water that already meets drinking-water requirements. It does not need reverse osmosis upstream under normal intended operating conditions.

Does the cartridge remove chlorine?

+

Yes. The activated-carbon treatment stages are designed to reduce chlorine, organic substances and compounds responsible for unwanted taste and odour.

Does bestmax PREMIUM remove sand and rust?

+

The cartridge includes particle filtration. BWT specifies separation of coarse particles such as sand and rust as well as a final fine-filtration stage for smaller suspended matter.

What is the bypass setting?

+

The BWT besthead filter head allows part of the incoming water to bypass the ion-exchange stage. The bypass setting is selected according to local water hardness and the required final water characteristics.

Is bypass water also filtered?

+

Yes. BWT specifically identifies filtration of bypass water as one of the technical advantages of bestmax PREMIUM, helping maintain consistent sensory water quality.

Which bestmax PREMIUM size do I need?

+

The correct size depends on incoming water hardness, bypass setting, daily water consumption and whether the connected equipment uses steam. Higher hardness and higher consumption generally require a larger cartridge.

How often should the cartridge be replaced?

+

BWT recommends regular replacement after approximately six months and no later than twelve months, or earlier when the calculated treatment capacity has been reached.

Can the cartridge be installed horizontally?

+

Yes. According to BWT technical documentation, bestmax PREMIUM can be installed either vertically or horizontally when the installation requirements are followed.
