BWT besttaste Activated Carbon Filter Cartridge

120
BWT besttaste is a professional activated carbon filtration system designed to improve the sensory quality of drinking water for coffee machines, water dispensers, vending equipment and HoReCa applications.
The cartridge combines integrated particle pre-filtration with high-quality activated carbon. The filtration stages reduce coarse and fine particles, suspended solids, chlorine, organic substances and compounds responsible for unwanted tastes and odours. The result is cleaner water with improved taste and aroma, helping cold and hot beverages retain their intended flavour profile.
Unlike softening or demineralisation cartridges, BWT besttaste is primarily a taste and odour optimisation filter. It is particularly suitable where the incoming water already has relatively low limescale content but requires improvement in chlorine, particles or undesirable sensory characteristics.
The filtration process consists of several stages. A particle pre-filter captures coarse contaminants such as sand and rust. The main filtration stage uses special activated carbon granulate to reduce chlorine, organic compounds and off-flavours, while an additional fine-particle stage retains finer suspended matter.
BWT also states that the system reduces heavy-metal content and uses an activated-carbon fleece to help maintain consistently clear filtered water. The cartridge can be installed vertically or horizontally and is designed for use with the universal BWT besthead FLEX connection system.
A particularly useful application is pre-filtration before reverse osmosis. BWT specifically recommends the besttaste 20 cartridge with integrated pre-filtration upstream of BWT bestaqua ROC reverse osmosis systems. This makes it relevant not only as a standalone taste-improvement filter, but also as a protective pre-treatment stage for professional RO installations.
BWT besttaste is available in S, X and 20 versions. All three are designed for inlet pressures of 2−8 bar, water temperatures of 4−30°C, and BWT recommends cartridge replacement after 12 months.
Important: BWT besttaste should not be confused with BWT bestcare. Bestcare combines activated carbon with ultrafiltration for microbiological protection, whereas besttaste is an activated-carbon-based system focused primarily on particles, chlorine, organic substances, taste and odour improvement.

Activated Carbon Water Filtration

What BWT besttaste Does

BWT besttaste is a professional activated carbon filtration cartridge designed to improve the sensory quality of drinking water used in coffee machines, vending systems and water dispensers.

It reduces particles, chlorine, organic substances and unwanted tastes and odours, helping produce cleaner water with a more neutral and consistent flavour.

01

Activated Carbon Filtration

High-quality activated carbon reduces chlorine, organic substances and compounds that can negatively affect the taste and odour of water and beverages.

02

Integrated Particle Pre-Filtration

Incoming water first passes through an integrated particle filtration stage that helps reduce suspended matter and contaminants before the main carbon treatment.

03

Better Sensory Water Quality

By reducing off-flavours and undesirable substances, besttaste helps water, coffee and other beverages retain a cleaner and more natural taste profile.

Filtration Technology

How BWT besttaste Works

Several filtration stages work together inside the cartridge to reduce particles and unwanted sensory components before the water reaches the connected equipment.

1

Particle Pre-Filtration

The integrated pre-filtration stage reduces suspended particles such as sand, rust and other particulate matter from the incoming water.

2

Activated Carbon Treatment

High-quality activated carbon reduces chlorine, unwanted organic components and substances responsible for unpleasant taste and odour.

3

Final Carbon Fleece

An activated-carbon fleece provides an additional filtration stage designed to support consistently clear, high-quality filtered water.

Applications

Designed for Professional Beverage & Water Systems

BWT besttaste is particularly suitable where the incoming water already has relatively low limescale content but requires improvement in taste, odour, chlorine and particle load.

01

Coffee Machines

Helps reduce chlorine and off-flavours that can interfere with the intended taste and aroma of coffee.

02

Water Dispensers

Improves the sensory quality of cold drinking water by reducing unpleasant taste, odour and chlorine.

03

Vending Systems

Provides consistent filtered water for professional vending machines and beverage systems.

04

Hospitality & HoReCa

Suitable for professional catering environments where water quality directly affects the taste of served beverages.

Reverse Osmosis Pre-Treatment

BWT besttaste 20 as a Pre-Filter for Reverse Osmosis

BWT specifically recommends the besttaste 20 cartridge with integrated pre-filtration for use upstream of BWT bestaqua ROC reverse osmosis systems.

In this configuration, besttaste reduces particles, chlorine and unwanted organic components before the water enters the reverse-osmosis system.

besttaste Does Not Soften Water

BWT besttaste is primarily an activated-carbon filtration system for particles, chlorine, organic substances, taste and odour improvement. It is not an ion-exchange softener and does not provide dedicated limescale reduction.

Where water hardness is high, an additional hardness-treatment solution should be selected according to the application.
