BWT Bewamat 25A is a compact simplex water softener designed for softening or partially softening drinking and service water in residential applications. By reducing calcium and magnesium responsible for water hardness, it helps minimise limescale-related problems in pipework, fittings, boilers and connected household equipment.
The system operates using ion-exchange technology and includes an electronic controller with intelligent quantity-dependent regeneration. Based on the programmed water hardness and available softened-water capacity, the controller checks whether sufficient capacity remains for the following day and automatically initiates regeneration when required. If the available capacity is not consumed within four days, the electronic control triggers regeneration automatically.
During regeneration, the system also disinfects the ion-exchange resin, helping maintain appropriate hygienic operating conditions. Spring-loaded non-return valves are incorporated on the inlet side of the system.
Bewamat 25A has a nominal softening capacity of 25 m³x°dH, contains 8 litres of ion-exchange resin and provides a nominal flow of 1.4 m³/h according to EN 14 743. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for houses, apartments and smaller residential installations where the much higher capacity of Bewamat 75A is unnecessary.
The unit uses standard regeneration salt tablets conforming to DIN EN 973 Type A. Approximate salt consumption is 1.2 kg per regeneration, while regeneration water consumption is approximately 55 litres per cycle. The integrated salt compartment holds up to 15 kg of regenerant.
The outlet water hardness can be adjusted using the integrated blending valve. BWT recommends a blended-water hardness of approximately 4−8 °dH, allowing the installation to be configured according to local water conditions and the required final hardness.
BWT specifies installation of a protective particle filter upstream of the softener, positioned no more than one metre before the unit, to prevent dirt and corrosion products from entering the system.

Intelligent Regeneration

Regeneration Based on Actual Water Consumption
