UF2000 is a whole-house ultrafiltration system with a 0.01 µm PVDF membrane and automatic backwashing. It is installed on the main water supply line and filters water before it reaches showers, taps and household appliances.
UF2000 is not a water softener or carbon filter
Ultrafiltration removes physical and microbiological contaminants while leaving the mineral composition of the water largely unchanged. If limescale control is required, a separate water softener is needed. Carbon filtration is used to reduce chlorine, while reverse osmosis is used for substantial TDS reduction in drinking water.
How the system works, what the 0.01 µm membrane removes, why automatic backwashing is important, and when UF2000 makes sense for whole-house water filtration.
UF2000 is a whole-house ultrafiltration system installed on the property’s main water supply line. Water is filtered before it reaches showers, taps, the kitchen, washing machine and other points of use.
Water passes through a PVDF membrane with a pore size of 0.01 µm. Water and dissolved mineral salts pass through the membrane, while larger contaminants are physically retained on its surface.
The system is designed to remove bacteria, suspended solids, fine sand, clay particles, colloids, turbidity and microplastics. Ultrafiltration is particularly useful when the water contains very fine contaminants that can pass through conventional coarse mechanical filtration.
Yes. The 0.01 µm membrane creates a physical barrier against bacteria and other microbiological contaminants. If water testing identifies a significant microbiological issue, the sanitary condition of the storage tank, pipework and the entire water supply system should also be assessed.
UF2000 includes a controller that starts membrane backwashing automatically according to a preset schedule. Backwashing helps remove contaminants accumulated on the membrane surface and reduces the amount of manual maintenance required.
Routine backwashing is carried out by the system automatically according to the configured schedule. When deeper maintenance is required, the membrane cartridge is removable and can be taken out, washed and, if necessary, replaced.
Yes. UF2000 is particularly useful in properties with water storage tanks, as stored water may contain sediment, fine suspended solids and microbiological contaminants. Ultrafiltration provides an additional physical barrier before water is distributed throughout the property.
No. Ultrafiltration does not remove dissolved calcium and magnesium salts, so water hardness remains largely unchanged. To protect plumbing fixtures and household appliances from limescale, UF2000 can be used together with a water softening system.
No. Dissolved mineral ions are much smaller than the pores of the ultrafiltration membrane and pass through it. As a result, TDS before and after UF2000 usually does not change significantly. Reverse osmosis is used to reduce TDS.
No. The UF membrane is designed for physical filtration, not for adsorption of dissolved chlorine. If chlorine and its characteristic odour need to be reduced, the system can be complemented with an activated or catalytic carbon filter.
Yes. UF2000 can be installed either vertically or horizontally. This allows the installation layout to be selected according to the available service space and pipework configuration.
Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis perform different functions. UF2000 removes suspended contaminants, turbidity and bacteria while retaining dissolved mineral salts. Reverse osmosis, by contrast, is used to significantly reduce TDS and dissolved substances. For drinking water, reverse osmosis is therefore often installed separately under the kitchen sink.
The stated UF2000 flow rate is up to 2,000 litres per hour. The system is designed for whole-house water filtration before distribution throughout the property.
