Automatic Backwash Whole House Ultrafiltration System UF4000

1050
UF4000 is a high-flow whole-house ultrafiltration system designed for homes, villas and larger properties that need reliable central filtration from the main water line. With a filtration capacity of up to 4 m³/h, it is suitable for properties with higher water demand, multiple bathrooms or several water points used at the same time.
The system uses a 0.01 µm PVDF ultrafiltration membrane to physically reduce fine suspended particles, turbidity, fine sand, clay deposits and microbiological contaminants before the water reaches taps, showers and household appliances. The durable AISI304 stainless steel housing provides a strong and compact design suitable for technical rooms, pump rooms and whole-house water treatment installations.

This version of the UF4000 comes with a controller for automatic backwash according to a preset schedule. Automatic flushing helps reduce manual maintenance, keeps the membrane cleaner during regular operation and supports more stable filtration performance over time. The membrane cassette is removable, washable and replaceable, making long-term servicing easier and more cost-effective.

UF4000 can be installed vertically or horizontally, which gives more flexibility during installation. It is especially useful for villas, apartments, homes with storage tanks, older pipework or visible water turbidity. The system does not soften water, remove dissolved salts or reduce chlorine smell, so it can be combined with a water softener, carbon filter, UV system or reverse osmosis depending on the required water treatment result.

UF4000 filters water but does not soften it

The 0.01 µm membrane is designed to remove suspended and microbiological contaminants. It does not remove dissolved calcium and magnesium salts, so for limescale protection UF4000 can be combined with a water softener. For chlorine reduction, carbon filtration is used, while reverse osmosis is used for substantial TDS reduction in drinking water.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About UF4000 Ultrafiltration

What the 0.01 µm UF membrane removes, how automatic backwashing works, and which properties benefit from a flow rate of up to 4,000 litres per hour.

What is UF4000?

UF4000 is a high-capacity whole-house ultrafiltration system installed on the main water supply line. It filters water before it is distributed to showers, bathrooms, the kitchen, household appliances and other points of use.

What is the UF4000 flow rate?

The stated UF4000 flow rate is up to 4,000 litres per hour, or up to 4 m³/h. Its higher capacity makes the model suitable for villas, large homes, multiple bathrooms and situations where several water outlets are used at the same time.

How is UF4000 different from UF2000?

The main difference is flow capacity. UF4000 is rated for up to 4,000 L/h and is better suited to properties with higher peak water demand. When choosing between the models, it is important to consider not only average consumption, but also the number of showers, taps and other fixtures used simultaneously.

How does the 0.01 µm membrane work?

Water passes through a PVDF membrane with a pore size of 0.01 µm. Dissolved mineral salts pass through the membrane, while significantly larger particles and microorganisms are physically retained on its surface.

What contaminants does UF4000 remove?

The system is designed to remove bacteria, suspended solids, fine sand, clay particles, colloids, turbidity and microplastics. This allows UF4000 to act as a central physical barrier before water is distributed throughout the property.

Does UF4000 remove bacteria?

The 0.01 µm UF membrane can significantly reduce bacterial load because bacteria are physically retained by the membrane. Where maximum microbiological protection is required, ultrafiltration can also be combined with UV disinfection.

Is UF4000 suitable for water from a storage tank?

Yes. The system is particularly useful for properties with storage tanks, as stored water may contain sediment, fine particles and microbiological contaminants. The UF membrane provides an additional physical barrier before water reaches points of use.

How does UF4000 automatic backwashing work?

The system includes a controller that automatically starts membrane backwashing according to a preset schedule. Backwashing helps remove accumulated contaminants, reduces the amount of manual maintenance and supports more stable membrane performance.

Can the membrane be serviced or replaced?

Yes. The UF4000 membrane cartridge is removable, washable and replaceable. This simplifies system maintenance and allows the membrane element to be replaced without replacing the entire filter housing.

Does UF4000 remove water hardness and limescale?

No. Ultrafiltration does not remove dissolved calcium and magnesium salts and therefore does not replace a water softener. If plumbing fixtures, water heaters and household appliances need protection from limescale, UF4000 can be used together with a water softening system.

Does UF4000 remove chlorine?

No. The ultrafiltration membrane is designed for the physical removal of particles and microorganisms. To reduce chlorine, odour and taste, an additional stage with activated or catalytic carbon is required.

Does UF4000 reduce TDS?

No. Dissolved mineral salts pass through the ultrafiltration membrane, so UF4000 has little effect on water TDS. For substantial TDS reduction, reverse osmosis or another demineralisation technology is used.

Can UF4000 be installed horizontally?

Yes. UF4000 supports both vertical and horizontal installation, making it easier to place the equipment in technical spaces and adapt the installation to the existing pipework configuration.

Is a separate reverse osmosis system needed for drinking water?

UF4000 is designed primarily for whole-house water filtration and does not remove dissolved salts. If deeper drinking-water treatment and substantial TDS reduction are required, a separate reverse osmosis system can be installed under the kitchen sink.
